Milwaukee Fire Department Receives 40 REACH Bags

On May 11th, Executive Director Curt Fuszard delivered 40 REACH bags to the Milwaukee Fire Department. Milwaukee Fire Department Chief Mark Rohlfing, Mayor Tom Barrett and Milwaukee city librarian Paula Kiely joined Curt for a news conference to highlight the delivery.

The city will use the REACH bags to promote literacy throughout Milwaukee. Every child comforted by a Milwaukee firefighter will receive a book and a calendar of events at the library, as well as their own library card. With this delivery, Milwaukee firefighters will be able to comfort and distract 800 children in crisis over a year.

We also gave the department more than 1,000 books to use in the Little Free Libraries which are outside of every fire station. Thank you to everyone who helped make this delivery possible. We couldn’t do it without you.
